Borora Juniors 3-2 Duleek AFC
Borora Juniors won against Duleek for the second time in the week on Saturday in Moynalty. Having won on Tuesday in Duleek the home team were looking forward to another chance for three points. Borora sett quickly and pinned the visitors back and created several good chances to take the lead. Èanna Bennett, Diarmuid O’Malley, Aiden Roche and Caoimhin Cussen created and missed several opportunities early on . Then totally against the run of play Duleek played a long hopeful ball through to their striker who was yards offside to put Duleek ahead 0-1. The hosts then laid siege to Duleek goal and pushed hard to get back on terms. Ten minutes before half time Sean Behan took the game by the scruff of the neck, driving past four defenders before smashing his shot past the goalkeeper to even up the tie. Borora continued to dominate possession and five minutes later a long slalom run from Roache caused mayhem for the Duleek defence and he was fouled inside the box to concede a penalty. He dusted himself down and slotted the penalty home to gibe the home team a deserved lead. Halftime 2-1 to Borora.
The second half started strangely with Duleek only starting 8 players against Borora, who actually struggled to push home their dominance in possession by wasting several more chances to score. After evening up the numbers Borora went on to take a 3-1 lead as this time Èanna Bennett took a chance to score from his left foot after turning smartly in the box to slam home. The game the almost petered out as a contest although Duleek pulled one back after a speculative shot evaded the home keeper to make it 3-2. Defensive solidity from Adam O’Brien , Dovydas Glassas and Eoin Gilsenan created a good platform for the midfield as Behan, Luke Quinn, Jack Shalvey pulled the strings . Nial Rogan was sound a sever in goal for this group who have a chance to close the gap on leaders Drogheda next weekend.
