Borora Juniors v Drogheda Marsh Crescent
Borora Juniors were back in action on Saturday morning against Drogheda Marsh in what proved to be a fascinating match for the spectators.
Drogheda started the brighter side, probing for the opener whilst Borora settled in and were content to get bodies behind the ball whilst breaking fast on the counter. Borora got a foothold in the game and started pressing and got the breakthrough midway through the first half when a mazy run from Kyle Brunson brought about a save from the visitors keeper, the rebound fell kindly for the home side and Daniel Gilsenan calmly slotted the opener into the empty net.
The away side pressed and got the equaliser from a corner just before half time when Borora didn’t defend the flighted ball in and it rebounded in off the knee of an attacker. 1-1 at half time.
Borora came out strong in the second half and had a couple of half chances before the impressive Kyle Brunton sprung the defence and as cool as you like, fired the ball past the oncoming keeper to restore the home sides advantage.
It was the visitors turn to push once more and they were soon level following a fierce shot which the impressive Breen Kavanagh could only parry direct into the path of an onrushing striker to slide the ball home for the equaliser.
Shortly after, the away side were awarded a dubious looking penalty which was converted to give the away side a head fought victory.
Breen Kavanagh shone for Borora between the sticks along with Daniel Gilsenan, Frankie McIlhern and the ever impressive Kyle Brunton.
