1st Half:

Borora visited Dunshaughlin for the next episode of their season which has yet to deliver their second win but a spirited performance again from the visitors didnt produce the desired outcome. Borora lined up with Matthew Morris, Leo Fitzgerald, Rocco Genockey and Cillian Ryan determined to shut out Dunshaughlin from the get go. Midfield comprised of ever present Cameron McGarry, Keelan Sheridan, Drew Donaghy and Lochlann Reilly. Kevin Fitzpatrick and Eoin Murphy (Capt) completed the starting line up for Borora.

From the outset of this game Borora were determined to make the most of the opportunity to take 3 points from a team that they knew so well over the past number of years. The game was played on Dunshaughlins new pitches at the Willows and the pitch was in perfect condition for a passing game. This is how Borora did start by making passes that forced Dunshaughlin retreating towards their own goal. Borora, in truth, were the better team in the opening minutes of the game. This continued until a break away play from Dunshaughlin resulted in a foul just outside the 18 yard box over to Goalkeeper Oisin McInerneys right side. A strong shot was saved by the Borora shot stopper but dropping the ball back into the 6 yard box left the on rushing Dunshaughlin player unmarked for a simple finish into the goal. 1-0 to the home side after 9 minutes. This goal gave Dunshaughlin the boost they badly needed and they slowly worked their way back into the game to a point where they were able to pick passes at will. Borora, nevertheless continued to play and press their opposition throughout the first half and definitely deserved to be level at the end of first half but this was not to be the case.

Refereeing decisions went against the visitors throughout the first half which added to the Borora players frustrations. An overzealous tackle on Rocco Genockey just before half time went unpunished by the referee who decided to give the homeside a corner from resulting play. This tackle saw Rocco Genockey withdrawn from the game for s short time. Leo Fitzgerald found himself in the referees book after receiving a yellow card mid way through the first half.

Half Time: Dunshaughlin Youths 1 - 0 Borora Juniors

2nd Half:

Callum Teixeira and Aaron McGivern took to the pitch in the second half in an attempt to bring their team back into the game. Again this half was competitive with both sides competing in warm conditions to get the next goal. Oisin McInerney was kept busy making some great saves throughout while Lochlann Reilly, Oisin Sheridan (EB) and Keelan Sheridan had chances late on in the second half but were unable to find the finishing composed shot or hit the back of the net to bring the game level. Again, the visitors were clearly frustrated with some tough tackles from the home side that went unpunished but when Borora imposed themselves on their opponents in the same manner, the whistle sounded on nearly every occasion. In their efforts to win a point from the game, Borora were caught out with 5 minutes to go in the second half. Confusion and a lack of composure (unable to clear their lines) in the Borora box meant that Dunshaughlin were able to latch onto a lose ball to make it 2-0.

Frustrations after the full time whistle were evident when Matthew Morris was shown a straight red card by the referee for comments he made.

Dunshaughlin were a good side on the day by showing some neat passes (while the ball was o the ground) and physicality to win the ball back when needed and Borora must show the same ability (within their capability) within their next game this coming Wednesday if they want to take anything from that game.

Good contributions throughout from Oisin McInerney,  Matthew Morris, Keelan Sheridan (on as substitute) & Lochlann Reilly.

Yellow Cards: Leo Fitzgerald & Rocco Genockey

Red Cards: Matthew Morris (after final whistle)

Full-time result:  Dunshaughlin 2 - 0 Borora Juniors

Player of Match: Lochlann Reilly again performed exceptionally in midfield throughout the game and then in defence when injury to Rocco Genockey forced him out of the game temporarily. With an attitude to never give up or throw in the towel, Lochlann's desire to bring his team into the game never waivered and kept pressing when possible - even complimented personally by opposition manager at full-time. Well done Lochlann - keep up the exceptional play.
