Drogheda Marsh Crescent 5-2 Borora Juniors
Borora juniors made the long journey to Drogheda on Saturday having been promoted for the third time on three years. Due to school trips the visitors had only eleven players available.
The visitors started well and we’re holding the home team well with some good defensive play from Daniel Stafford and Dovidas Glassas .
Try as they might the visitors could not score and some lapses in concentration plus some good passing moves led the home team to a 3- halftime lead.
The visitors began the second half with a flurry and soon after the restart Mikey Smith hit a piledriver of a shot which cannoned off the crossbar and into the goals. This gave the visitors some confidence and has the ball in the net again only for the ref to disallow it . Minutes later after sustained pressure Jack Shalvey scored a second goal 3-2 now.
Drogheda then broke down the wing and after some tidy link up play scored a fourth. Borora pinned them back for the half hitting the crossbar four times whilst pushing to get back into the game and completely dominating possession. However with only minutes left the tagged on a fifth goal to kill off the game. A huge effort by the eleven lads who played their hearts out and showed tjat they deserved to be in this lofty division. The team left frustrated as they felt that the result did not do them justice.
