1st Half:

The home side began this game on the front foot from the very first whistle putting the visitors under pressure early on and creating a number of chances. Borora totally dominated the early stages of the game giving the opposition little chance to settle on the ball or make any inroads towards the safe hands of Eanna Bennett in goal. when Trim did manage to break through on goal, Eanna showed total control and excellent distribution for the home side. The exemplary work by the home side back 4 (inclusive of Dovydas Glasas, Cillian Ryan, Oisin Sheridan & Lochlann Reilly) also helped to ensure that Trim would not score. In fact, it was the hard work and spirited running down the home sides right touchline which managed to give Borora the lead after 15 minutes. Excellent work from Lochlann Reilly resulted in the home side taking a deserved lead. After losing the ball just outside the visitors 18 yard box (out on the right hand side touchline), Lochlanns desire to win the ball back proved decisive as he did just that before beating to players with some impressive footwork. after having a look up to see support in the 6 yard box, Lochlann played a strong ball into the box from such an acute angle that Mo Salah would have been proud of! The ball beat the goalkeeper on its way into the goal line where Eoin Murphy was on Hand in case it needed a definitive touch but Eoins honesty showed that Lochlann had actually got the opening goal. One of those moments that you just have to stop, applaud and admire from Lochlann Reilly. Great goal and well deserved from the home side. Borora continued to create chances in their play but also believed that the visitors (from 2 divisions above the home side) could spoil the party if they were allowed to play. This proved to be the case when Trim Celtic scored on the stroke of half time. The ball was played into the home sides box where the striker battled to win the ball against that strong back line and just managed to get a looping touch over the onrushing Goalkeeper and as the ball crept towards the goal-line, it was the spinning bounce of the ball which carried it over the line. Somewhat against the run of play but the game ended level at the break.

Half Time: Borora Juniors 1 - 1 Trim Celtic

2nd Half:

The bounce of the ball in the last kick of the first half galvanized the visitors and it was them who took to the second half with more to prove. In a game of two halves, it was not the home side who were feeling the pressure. Trim began to pass the ball more crisply and were afforded the time on the ball to make their passes. The early pressure form Trim soon paid off when just a mere 2 minutes into the second half they took the lead (to which they appeared somewhat surprised). A speculative shot from the outside of the 18 yard box looped straight over now regular Goalkeeper Leo Fitzgerald into the absolute corner (postage stamp) of his left side and despite getting the merest of fingertip touches to the ball Trim were now in the lead. This gave Trim the confidence to press on and get another goal. As a consequence of the spectacular efforts in the first half, the home side were beginning to tire and despite the introduction of fresh legs from Joseph McGarry, Eoin Fitzgerald & Aaron McGivern in the half it was the visitors who did get that third goal in 17th minute of second half to close out the game. Most definitely not a reflective scoreline (1 - 3) of how the game actually went but Borora must take pride in the efforts they put in throughout the game against their D1 opponents and its these positive, determined and strong performances that we need to see more of from the team.

Good contributions throughout from Cameron McGarry, Oisin Sheridan, Keelan Sheridan (Captain), Kevin Fitzpatrick & Lochlann Reilly

Full-time result:  Borora Juniors 1 - 3 Trim Celtic

Players of Match: Great performances all round, with special recognition for Eanna Bennett (GK) in first half with Eoin Murphy & Lochlann Reilly performances standing out also. Well done to all.

Yellow Cards: 1 - Joseph McGarry cautioned for high tackle on opponent.

Many thanks,

Paul.
