U15 Div2 comeback
Borora Juniors had to battle hard for the three points in this game on a very wet sun morning in Moynalty. The game started evenly but the hosts soon settled and began to exert pressure on the visitors goal. The home midfield we’re dominating possession but the forwards were unable to convert due to some good defensive play and top saves. Against the run of play the visitors took lead when their player mishit a shot and it spun and bobbled in past David Daly’s despairing dive. Halftime 0– to Parkceltic.
The second half was more of the same as both teams played fantastic football considering the appalling conditions and soon after the visitors doubled their lead with a scrappy score. The home team pushed on and Caoimhín Cussen, Diarmuid O’Malley pushed efforts wide. Cathal Donoghue began pushing forward and received a fantastic pass from Jack Shalvey and won a penalty which Shane Bennett converted with aplomb. The home team the really pushed on and after some neat passes from Brion O’Reilly, Odhran McMahon and Mikey Smith the ball fell to Èanna Bennett on his right foot, took a deft touch and smashed it home on his left to equalise. Borora pushed on again and Dean Williams, Jack Kavanagh and Sean Behan set up Bennett again to this time finish off his right. This sent the supporters into raptures and the were some nervous moments as Parkceltic pushed for an equaliser and forced a late corner which resultled in David Daly pulling of a smashing save. An absolutely brilliant game to watch and a fantastic team performance. Stout defence from Beata, Daniel , Cathal, Dean. Excellent midfield play from Shane, JackK, Jack S, Shane , Brion, Sean, and top forward play from Mikey, Caoimhín, Eanna and Odhran.
