Castle Villa 4 Grove Rangers 5
Castle Villa found themselves 3-0 down at half time in this Div4 game on Friday night.
A lacklustre performance, the home side could have no complaints really at the break as lack of concentration cost them 3 goals. The home side did have 1 or 2 chances to claw something back before the half ended, but couldn't capitalise.
3 changes were made at half time, and a stern talking to from manager Mark White, and the 2nd half started with CV on the front foot. 5 mins in, the home side got a goal back, and soon after a 2nd, and soon after got the equaliser to bring the game level. Patrick Chetan, John Lynch and Garreth Reilly all on the score sheet. But again, some poor defending by CV allowed Grove to score a 4th. But CV weren't finished either - a great cross come shot by Garreth (he may argue it was a shot) crept in the far top corner to bring the game level again. With less than 10 mins left, again a lack of concentration allowed Grove to score a 5th, but CV couldn't get the equaliser to get a point from the game. If only the home side played in the 1st half as they did in the 2nd, they could have taken all 3 points. A disappointing result, but CV showed some good character and spirit in the 2nd half fightback.
