PM Blinds challenge cup third round: Castle Villa 1 v Navan Town Cosmos 2
A very competitive cup game on Friday evening saw Castle Villa go out after a 2-1 defeat to Navan Town Cosmos.
Castle Villa were up against it early in this game as Navan Town started strongly, but soon the home side settled and were able to mix it up with the team from a league above them. Navan Town eventually got a goal against the run of play some would say, but Castle Villa would get one back not long after. Some good work from Calvin Doherty on the wing drew a free kick. The ball was delivered in sweetly, for John Lynch to get a touch and guide it beyond the GK. Game on!
The 2nd half started as the 1st half finished, with some questionable tackles from the away side, leading to a number of yellow cards being dished out by the referee. Some might say a red card should have been shown at some point, as the away side kept up with some unsportsmanship play, one particularly when the home side put the ball out of play for a player to receive treatment, with the resulting throw in not thrown back to the home side. This was leading to the home sides annoyance, resulting in a few yellow cards received by our own.
Unfortunately Navan Town scored a 2nd goal, which ultimately put them into the next round.
Well done to the home side for putting in a great battling and enertaining performance
