Borora Juniors-5

Walshestown-2

On Monday night Borora welcomed unbeaten league leaders Walshestown.

1st half:

The game started fast paced and Walshestown were testing stand-in goalkeeper Dylan Smith to the early on.

Borora found themselves defending a corner which was headed to the edge of the box where an unmarked Walshestown man struck it nicely towards the roof of the net.

Borora were caught again shortly after Walshestown’s striker found himself in the box and was taken down by Micheal O’Byrne. The penalty was well taken not giving the keeper a chance.

Borora then had their own penalty when Sean Coyne made a strong run and was taken down, unfortunately the chance was wasted as the Walshestown keeper kept out Jack Henry’s attempt.

Borora got into the game when Sean Coyne scored 2 quick goals, a near post volley and a nice finish across goal under pressure 5 minutes later. The game was 2-2 at half time

2nd half:

Both teams created lots of chances in this half and both equally wanted the three points.

Sean Coyne linked up down the left hand side with Jake Smyth and Diarmuid O’Reilly and found himself in the box where he was taken down yet again by a Walshestown defender. Substitute Sean McDermott stepped up to take the penalty and put Borora ahead for the first time in the game, his introduction along with Adam Kerins really put Borora on their way to getting three points.

Goals were in full flow after Micheal O’Byrne found himself with a bit of space on the edge of the box after a corner and drove it low into the bottom corner.

Borora wrapped the game up when Jack Henry punished a defensive mistake and scored borora’s fifth with a left footed finish.

Borora had plenty of great performers, Dylan Smith filling in as goalkeepe for injured Calvin Quail. Jack Henry, Shane Ryan and Matthew Muldoon in the middle picking good passes throughout the game and Micheal O’Byrne and Callum Blair at centreback dealing with crosses all game but Man of the Match (voted by the team) was Sean Coyne, pressing all game and getting himself 2 goals, getting Borora’s momentum back when it was needed.
