1st Half:

In what was a competitive game for the first 15 minutes, the home side found it difficult to muster even a chance against their visitors or even progress towards the Navan Town Cosmos goal as the order of the early stages of the game was to defend stoutly against a tough, physical side in Navan Town Cosmos. While the visitors did manage to threaten the home side on a number of occasions it was only through consistant defending through Dovydas Glasas, Oisin Sheridan, Jack Moore and Cameron McGarry (stand-in defender) that kept the onslaught at bay. Added to the mix the terrific performance of Oisin MacInnerney on his debut in goal for the home side pulling off some outstanding saves keeping his side in the game. However, the persistence and determination of the visitors to win this crucial game saw them take the lead after a breakaway following a rare venture from Borora into the opposition box. The breakthrough goal was then followed by the visitors 2nd goal with a speculative long range shot which appeared to be going wide but snuck just inside the bottom right of the keepers goal. Number three was well worked by the visitors and when the final pass was made across the six yard box to a lonely striker, it was a simple task of just stroking the ball over the line. Clearly the defence of the home-side was left wanting at this time. The visitors were well in control at this stage and added a fourth goal just before the interval

Half Time: Borora Juniors 0 - 4 Navan Town Cosmos

2nd Half:

Second half started in the same manner the first finished, with the visitors pressing the home side and their passing played with precision and accuracy. This was only made possible by the homeside not pressuring with tackles or moving with the pace of the game which was a disappointment. The midfield were unable to keep with the pace and despite continuing running from Kevin Fitzpatrick (now in midfield) the homeside found it difficult to retain the ball. With Oisin Sheridan playing up front as a lone striker, his touches on the ball were limited given the play behind him. Navan Town Cosmos continued to press in the second half and were rewarded with a further 3 goals (2 of which could have been prevented with communication and tackling) but ultimately it was a deserved with for the visitors in a game which they controlled throughout without their goalkeeper feeling more of a spectator than a participant. The home side will need to vastly improve going forward given this performance today.

Good contributions throughout from Cameron McGarry, Oisin Sheridan (Captain), Dovydas Glasas & Eoin Murphy.

Full-time result:  Borora Juniors 0 - 7 Navan Town Cosmos

Man of Match: Jointly awarded to Eoin Murphy (despite the scoreline, his determination and persistance to try drag his team back into the game was unwaivering - shouting at players and putting tackles in) & Oisin Sheridan (never say quit attitude was admirable and showed his desire to play for his team no matter what position he was asked to play in - defence & lone striker).

Yellow Cards: 1 - Cameron McGarry (Borora) (deliberate kick-out at forward).
