CastleVilla 2-2 Sporting BJD
Villa and sporting played out a cracker of a draw on Friday evening in extreme heat in sunny Villa Park Moynalty
The away team settled first and fired off some long range shots which never troubled keeper Tommy Owens. The home defence were coping well with the crosses and shots with the twin towers of Luke Mulholland and Adam Tallon along with Paddy Gallagher and Harry McCormack holding the visitors at bay. Rowland OReilly and Dylan Gargan were running the defence ragged and created several good chances . Brian Lynch Sam McNally , Paul McGuinness and Lochlann O’Reilly never stopped working all evening.
Shortly before half time the left wing cut inside and hit a shot which Owens got to but couldn’t keep it out. 0-1 halftime.
Villa pressed and made several changes but the outstanding Rowland O’Reilly latched onto a clever ball from Gareth Reilly to equalise with ten minutes remaining. With time running out sporting broke away again the the same player planted another shot into the left corner to put the visitors ahead. Colm McDonagh, Ryan Halpin, Jordan Barry and Jared Cole all joined the fray as the visitors flagged in the heat.
Villa never gave up and a clever ball out to super sub Reilly who scored a screamer into the bottom left corner to equalise. Ryan Halpin then went through and squared to Jared Cole who couldn’t reach the cross.
A never say die attitude shown by everyone
