Johnstown 3-4. Borora juniors
After much changes due to player availability this fixture eventually went ahead in the MDL on Sunday morning.
The visitors had only 13 players available to call upon and they put on a hell of a show.
They started brightly and soon created several good scoring opportunities. One such fell to Byron Wearon after a defence splitting pass from Dylan Jameson to Eanna Bennett whose shot rebounded off the post to Wearon for his second in two games. The midfield of Borora were dominant as Lachlann O’Reilly, Jack Shalvey , Caoimhin Cussen and Jameson were controlling the possession. Dovydas Glassas, Mike’s Smyth , Diarmuid O’Malley with Luke Quinn sitting in front were keepin* Johnstown to long shots. Calum Mitchell and Joseph McGarry came off the bench to great effect second half.
Leo Fitzgerald was having a solid outing in goals and kept out any shots which got through. On the half hour Jameson broke free again to set up Bennet to double Borora lead. Johnstown hit back quickly and brought the game level at 2-2.
Shortly before halftime Jack Shalvey unleashed a rocket which swerved into the top left corner to restore the lead.
Second half was similar with Borora pressing for more goals. Wearon hit a spectacular long drive to restore t(e visitors two gaol lead. Johnstown never gave up and pulled one back again to put some pressure on but Borora held on for the win.
A well deserved win for the visitors.
