Summer returned on Saturday morning For Bororas visit to Drogheda Marsh Crescent at the Moneymore FC grounds. Drogheda started by far the stronger team and deservedly took an early lead with a fierce strike from the edge of the box leaving Kavanagh stranded in the visitor’s goal. The game continued in the same vein with the home side netting twice more to give themselves a commanding lead at the interval.
Borora Juniors started the second much brighter and deservedly pulled a goal back following a superb solo run and strike from the impressive Rogan. Drogheda Marsh regained their 3-goal advantage shortly after when a sliced clearance from Murray bounced right in from of Kavanagh and with some wicked spin on the ball completely deceived the Borora keeper and spun right into the empty net. A freak goal that restored Drogheda’s advantage.
Borora never gave up and were awarded a deserved penalty when the ball was handled by a Drogheda defender and Brunton calmly slotted the spot kick. Borora continued to press for the remainder of the match but were unable to make their possession count and the game ended 4-2 to the home side. Impressive play from Rogan, Abell, Gilsenan, Kelleher, Brunton and the unfortunate Murray.
