Dunshaughlin youths 2-2 Borora Juniors
On a fabulous sunny Friday evening Borora Juniors youths went up to Dunshaughlin youths in a rearranged fixture. The scheduled referee was unable to attend so a delay was on the table. The game kicked off thirty minutes later.
The visitors were missing several players from their first outing so plenty of squad members got a chance to shine. The first half was quite even but Borora were unlucky not to be ahead at the break.
Oisin McInerney started in goal and pulled off some smart saves behind a defence marshalled well by Adam O’Brien, Oisin Sheridan and Daniel Stafford.
Luke Quinn , Keelan Sheridan Lochlann O’Reilly, Conor Fitzpatrick and captain Calum Mitchell fought for everything in the midfield battle.
Up front Eanna Bennett and Jack Butler were living of scraps as both defences were on top .
The second half was more of the same until good Dunshaughlin play led to a well taken goal to give the hosts the lead early in the second half. Shortly after a fabulous passing move moved the ball through the defence to Bennett who turned sharply and unleashed a shot into the top left corner of the net leaving the home keeper stranded..Caoimhín Cussen, Jack Shalvey, Sean Behan , Kevin Fitzpatrick, Dean Williams and Dovydas Glassas all joined the team to keep pushing forward to try to make a difference for the team. Keelan Sheridan took a heavy knock first half and unfortunately was replaced by Shalvey.
The host kept pushing forward and fifteen minutes from time took a deserved lead when a deflected shot spun past the visitors goalkeeper into the net. Borora dug deep and pushed the defence back . More attacking pressure led to a defender playing a shot back to the home keeper resulting in an indirect free kick. Captain Mitchell stepped up and tapped the kick back to Bennett who smashed it passed the wall for the equaliser and a share of the spoils as the referee blew for full time.
